HYROX Packing List: What to Bring on Race Day

Months of training, countless wall balls – and then you're standing in the hall on race day and realise: you forgot spare socks. To make sure that doesn't happen to you, we've put together the essential HYROX packing list.

Whether Singles, Doubles or Relay: with this list you'll have everything you need before, during and after the race.

Before you pack: check the event info

Every event runs a little differently. Read the official information for your event beforehand – especially about check-in, start time, schedule and what you can store in the venue.

That way you know how much you really need to bring and how early you should be there.

The HYROX packing list

Documents and organisation

  • Ticket or registration confirmation (digital or printed)
  • ID, in case it's required at check-in
  • Phone and charger or power bank
  • Some cash or a card
  • For Doubles and Relay: agree with your team on who brings what

Race outfit

  • Race outfit: Shirt or tank, shorts or tights – ideally exactly what you train in.
  • Shoes: One pair you can both run in and work the stations with. No new shoes on race day!
  • Socks: One pair for the race, one pair to change into.
  • Sports bra, if you wear one.
  • Warm-up layer: Hoodie or jacket for waiting and warming up.

Find inspiration for your race outfit in our Men and Women collections.

Accessories

  • Gloves or grip aids, if you train with them – and check beforehand what's allowed
  • Hair ties or headband
  • Tape and plasters
  • Sports watch or heart rate strap, if you train with one
  • Headphones for the warm-up

Food and drinks

  • Water bottle or shaker
  • Snacks for the waiting time that agree with you
  • A proper meal for after the race

Golden rule: On race day, only eat and drink what you know from training. Experiments can backfire quickly.

For after the race

  • A complete change of clothes including underwear
  • Towel
  • Travel-size shower gear and deodorant
  • Slides or comfortable shoes
  • Bag for wet and sweaty clothes
  • Warm jacket for the trip home

Backpack or bag for race day?

On race day you're on the move a lot: travel, check-in, warm-up, waiting, and afterwards photos with your team. A backpack keeps your hands free and spreads the weight across both shoulders.

Above all, good organisation matters. Dry spare clothes, wet race kit, food and valuables shouldn't all end up in the same compartment.

According to the product data, our Military Gym Backpack offers:

  • 45 litres of volume for training clothes and spare clothes
  • Extra compartments for lifting belt, lifting straps and gym accessories
  • Two side shaker holders
  • Splash-proof material and extra padding

If you want to bring your post-race meal along, the Meal Prep Backpack is an option: it has a coolable front compartment for 3–4 meal prep containers. You'll find all models in our Gym Bags.

5 packing tips

  1. Pack the evening before: You'll be nervous enough in the morning. Lay everything out the night before and tick off the list.
  2. Race outfit on top: What you need first goes on top.
  3. Spare clothes in their own bag: That keeps them dry and you'll find them instantly.
  4. Keep valuables to a minimum: Only bring what you really need – and put it in a separate compartment.
  5. Team check for Doubles and Relay: Quickly agree on who brings tape, snacks or a power bank. Then not everyone carries everything twice.

FAQ

How early should I arrive at HYROX?
That depends on the event and your start time. Plan enough buffer for check-in, changing and warming up, and follow the organiser's information.

Do I need special shoes?
What matters is that you can run well in them and stand securely at the stations. Take the pair you did your training sessions in.

What food is available?
Don't rely on getting exactly what you need on site. Better bring your own snacks and your post-race meal.

Good luck with your race – you've trained hard for it. Now your bag just needs to be right.
